Good afternoon students and families of the Wellsboro Area School District,
This morning our administrative team continued to analyze the current situation around COVID-19 cases in the district. It has also come to our attention today, that we had a staff member and students who are presumed positive for COVID-19. Through contact tracing, we determined that there is potential for additional confirmed close contacts in Charlotte Lappla Elementary, Don Gill Elementary, and Rock L. Butler Middle School by the DOH. If your child is considered a contact you will be notified directly by district staff or the Department of Health.
Because of the time needed to fully investigate all potential close contacts, the District has made the decision to move to 100% remote learning for grades K – 8, starting tomorrow, November 5, 2020, and the plan is to return to full in-person instruction on Monday, November 9, 2020.
For elementary/middle school students who do not have technology devices at home, we will be setting up a process for you to stop by the school and pick up a technology device. Please stay in your vehicles while obtaining equipment and our staff will deliver devices at your vehicle. The respective building principals will be communicating these details to all elementary/middle school parents.
With no known cases or presumed contacts at the high school, students in grades 9-12 will continue in-person instruction and should report to the high school as normal.
If you have any further questions, please contact your building principal. I am aware this decision impacts our families in many ways, but we will continue to keep the health and safety of all our students and staff a top priority.
