I am Ms. Boyd and I have been a paraprofessional at the Wellsboro Area School District since 2004 and started at the Wellsboro Area High School in 2010.
The enjoyment comes from our students when they master a skill. The pure happiness that they show is the highlight of our day, month, and year.
I enjoy working with students to increase their knowledge of the world in a hands on learning environment.
Before working for the school district, I became a CPR & First Aid Instructor for the American Red Cross. I was an instructor for 5 years. I also taught at the Wellsboro Montessori Preschool with children ranging from 2 years old to Middle school aged students for 7 years. Through the Wellsboro Parks and Recreation program I instructed beginner’s Ballet and tumbling for ages 3 to 6 year old for a total of 13 years. My associates’ degree is in Early Childhood Development.
I believe our students in the Wellsboro Area School District are very lucky to be in an area where children with disabilities are well supported in our community. There are many different types of job opportunities for them to feel like they are part of the work force.
I never thought I would be an instructional aide. I thought I would be working in a bakery decorating cakes for a living. After having my children I needed a job that allowed me to have time with them. That’s when I started working at the Wellsboro Montessori preschool when they were younger. When my oldest daughter started Kindergarten, I started thinking that about applying for a substitute position within the school district. So I substituted for 3 years before a permanent position opened up.
