The 2026 Mini Relay for Life at Rock L. Butler Middle School raised an amazing $7,276.00 in support of the fight against cancer!
This year's total surpassed last year's outstanding fundraising effort of $6,118.00 and marks our most successful Mini Relay for Life yet. Each year, our school community continues to grow its impact, and this achievement is a testament to the generosity, compassion, and dedication of everyone involved.
A heartfelt thank you to our students in grades 4–8, their families, Mrs. Outman for coordinating this event, and our faculty and staff for your donations, participation, and unwavering support. Together, you helped make a real difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.

This week, we honor a very special member of our RLBMS family — Mrs. Tina Kreisler — as she celebrates her final week of teaching and retires after 20 amazing years in the district!
Mrs. Kreisler has inspired countless students with her love of stories, her dedication, and her warm, encouraging presence. We are so grateful for everything she has given to our school community.

The Wellsboro Area School District School Board work session originally scheduled for June 2nd, 2026 has been cancelled.
Our End of Year STEM BASH 2026 at Don Gill was an incredible success this week!
The students dove into robotics and water-filled activities that sparked so much curiosity and hands-on learning with guest visitors. It was the perfect way to inspire a summer of inquiry and exploration.
I’ve attached a few pictures below to share some of the fun and excitement from the event.

🚜🌾 Our 8th grade students had a valuable experience attending Ag Safety Day today! Students participated in hands-on learning activities focused on important farm and agricultural safety topics, helping them build awareness and knowledge that can keep themselves and others safe.
Thank you to the organizers, presenters, and community partners who provided engaging demonstrations and real-world safety lessons for our students. We appreciate the opportunity for our students to learn from local experts and gain practical skills they can carry with them into the future!

From roller coasters and games to great food and lots of laughter, students enjoyed a well-deserved day of fun while making lasting memories with classmates and staff.

RLBMS 6th grade students recently attended the Tioga County Environmental Awareness Days, where they had the opportunity to learn firsthand about conservation, wildlife, forestry, and environmental stewardship through engaging, hands-on activities led by community experts.
A huge thank you to Penn State Extension, Tioga County 4-H, Pennsylvania Game Commission, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Hills Creek State Park, Tioga County Conservation District, and Tioga County Commissioners for providing such an outstanding educational experience for our students.
Students explored a variety of stations including Eagles & Osprey, Soil Erosion & Runoff, Amphibians, Beavers, Forestry, Fire Science & Prevention, PA Wildlife, and Seed Germination. The day was filled with interactive learning opportunities that helped students better understand the importance of protecting and preserving our natural resources.

"What's Next" event showcasing career services for those who have recently graduated or are approaching graduation. This event will be held at the Mansfield Fire Hall on Thursday May 21st, 2026 from 5:30-7:30pm.
Due to the storms last night the Wellsboro Area School District is experiencing a temporary network outage. As a result, the phones are also down across the district. We expect to have a connection back up as soon as possible.
Students in Miss Lancaster’s 3rd Grade class have been learning to read thermometers in both Math and Science class. Today they finished a Science investigation called “Build a Thermometer”. Students were able to observe expansion and contraction of liquid by creating their own thermometer’s as a tool to compare and read temperatures.
In using these tools, students were able to get a hands on experience and conduct their investigations to further solidify that liquids expand when heated (move up a tube) and contract when cooled (move down). Students marked the water level at room temperature, then placed the vials in hot and cold water to observe the liquid's movement in the tube.

Today, our RLBMS 8th grade students participated in Mock Interviews and truly impressed our community partners! Students came prepared, dressed for success, and demonstrated professionalism, confidence, and strong communication skills throughout the day.
These experiences help prepare our students for future careers and real-world opportunities, and we are proud of the effort they put into the process!

The Second Grade Team had a wonderful day at the Gmeiner Art & Cultural Center. The students represented our STE“A”M program with pride, demonstrating the many skills they’ve learned throughout the year, including their new art techniques. It was a joy to discuss the significance of the Gmeiner Center and tour the facility with the students. The high school students also enjoyed working alongside our second graders on hands-on, three-dimensional recycled sculptures inspired by Artur Gmeiner’s works. This STEM Career Grant collaboration was a fantastic way to celebrate Gmeiner’s mission and to connect everyone to the story of the Art & Cultural Center.
