🐝💚 RLBMS HOMECOMING WEEK HIGHLIGHTS! 💚🤍

Homecoming week has been full of school spirit, creativity, and fun at Rock L. Butler Middle School! 🎉 From Color Wars to Decades Day and Pajama Day, our Hornets have been showing their spirit and making great memories along the way!

GO HORNETS! 🐝💚🤍

A great time at the Youth Leader Tour with some of our students! They started the morning with an agricultural seminar that included blind taste testing foods. Their mission was to discuss and analyze texture, flavor, cost and overall community effect of different dietary options like plant based cheese versus dairy cheese, corn syrup based pancake syrup versus local maple syrup and dairy milk versus plant based milk.

The students also participated in a simulation where they were assigned a type of agricultural business to manage. They worked in pairs to interact with various community services so that they could keep their business running.

Finally, they ended the day with a tour of Kreger Farms on Rt. 414 where they heard from the Kreger family, one of their employees and one of their nutritionists. Students walked through the calf, heifer and milking cow barns as well as the milk house. The Kregers discussed their education at Penn State, the new technology they're using to make their farm more efficient and the various opportunities in the agricultural industry.

More fun at the corn maze!

Good morning, High School Hornets! 🐝🌅 What a beautiful reminder that each day brings a fresh start and new possibilities. Today, let’s take a moment to appreciate what’s around us, offer kindness freely, learn and work hard, and be the reason someone feels seen, heard, and valued. A smile, an encouraging word, or a helping hand can make more of a difference than we realize. To our students, staff, and community: you matter, you belong, and you have something special to offer. Let’s make it an amazing day at the hive! 💚

Students from Charlotte Lappla enjoyed a beautiful day at Miller’s Corn Maze. Amanda Miller and her staff created an outstanding hands- on learning day. Students were able to go gem mining, learn how wheat is harvested and turned into flour, painted pumpkins, went through a corn maze, learned how to make butter , went on a hayride , visit farm animals, and were also able to do a ton of yard/ farm themed game stations. We could not have asked for a better field trip experience for the fall !

A little fall color and a whole lot of Hornet pride! 🍂🐝 Thank you to the crew of kids and adults helping brighten our school grounds and welcome the season, showing what it means to care for the place we share. Along the way, they’re learning that small acts of service can make a meaningful difference in their community. Thank you to the students and staff who helped bring it all together. The high school looks ever so inviting for homecoming week.💚🤍

Today, some of our FFA students are putting school pride into action! 💚🤍 During fourth period, we went outside to support our maintenance crew by weeding and cleaning up around the front of the school, with seasonal decorating still to come. Learning extends beyond the classroom, and this project gives students an opportunity to practice teamwork, serve their school community, and take care of a place we all share. In addition, Mrs. Berndtson explains landscaping, tools, invasive plant species, and other educational elements to the job! Thank you to our maintenance and custodial staff for the work they do every day, and to our students for lending a hand. More decorating to come as we take pride in "our house!" 🐝

Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools (UCS) Youth Summit! Four members of the Wellsboro Bocce team participated in the Special Olympics UCS Youth Summit on 10/6. The Summit brings students together with and without disabilities to promote school inclusion, advocacy, and community change. It kicked off the planning for Whole School Engagements and other activities with the Hornets United Club. Coaches and members of the team will be participating on November 21 in a Polar Plunge at Antlers on the Water in Williamsport. Please consider donating to Wellsboro’s team.

Our high school lunch ladies are amazing. We appreciate the details and work they put into our menus which offer the kids so many amazing, healthy, fulfilling options! We source potatoes and even meat, locally. As well corn and some other vegetables as available! Thanks for all your work ladies!

Miss Campbell's class celebrated Applefest by learning the life cycle of an apple and making homemade apple sauce!

Our 5th grade Family & Consumer Science students had a fun and creative time decorating cookies! Students put their creativity to work while practicing skills and enjoying a hands-on FCS experience.
